These folks are determined to get a new library! That, in part, explains the enthusiasm at the second annual gala auction, sponsored by the Orono Public Library Foundation to benefit the new public library. Having nice goods to bid on, plus great food, music, and ambience, doesn’t hurt, either.
Held at the Buchanan Alumni House on the University of Maine campus, the fundraiser featured elegant hors d’oeuvres by Montes Catering, and the music of pianist Brian Catell and guitarist David Clarke. Over 100 items were featured in a silent auction, from goodie baskets to MCA tickets, followed by a spirited live auction with bidding on hot items, including an all-expense-paid trip to Hawaii. Event chair Sarah Kenney reported proceeds tallying $22,000, which will go toward the Foundation’s $2 million goal.
