For 19 years, the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems has presented its appeal on local TV airwaves. This year, hundreds of volunteers and CMN Miracle families from Presque Isle to Waterville, Greenville to Machias, joined together at the Bangor Mall for an eight-hour telecast aired over WABI TV-5, raising more than $600,000. Nancy Dysart, director of CMN for Healthcare Charities, was thrilled. “The support of the local community in response to the needs of our very special children and their families is heartwarming. Once again, they have proven that it takes a community, not only to raise a child, but also to heal a child.”
The Children’s Miracle Network is the largest nonprofit foundation for pediatric services in North America. Yet 100% of the money raised in this area benefits children of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems affiliate hospitals, providing medical equipment, therapy supplies, staff training, and wellness services.
