Creative minds in Bucksport design a runway project to support Buckport's Performing Arts Center.

It was a whirlwind of high heels and eye-popping fashion at the relatively new Bucksport Performing Arts Center as models worked the runway to help raise over $2,000 for the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society (BACAS). As a nonprofit society, BACAS strives to develop cultural and artistic opportunities in Bucksport and surrounding communities. During their first annual fashion show, a number of independent merchants, including Rosen’s of Bucksport, Bella Luna of Bangor, and Shamrock, Thistle and Rose from Belfast, were invited to display their work.

Potential buyers also browsed through goods provided by specialty vendors and enjoyed refreshments and floral arrangements, courtesy of volunteers and the Bucksport Garden Club. BACAS will use the money raised from the fashion show to upgrade the lighting and technical equipment of the Bucksport Performing Arts Center. As a result, the facility will continue to host full stage productions of children’s programming, contemporary theater, musical performances, and comedy events. Due to support from sponsors like the Bucksport Garden Club, MacLeodís Restaurant, Rosen’s Store, Seaboard Federal Credit Union, and Silk and Tapestries, BACAS plans to reprise the show in June 2009.
